Rose Hill Mansion is a historic antebellum plantation home located in Bluffton, South Carolina. The mansion was built in the early 19th century by John and Caroline Kirk and is considered an excellent example of Greek Revival architecture. In 1862, during the Civil War, the mansion was occupied by Union troops who used it as a hospital.
Today, the mansion and its surrounding plantation are a popular tourist destination and event venue. Visitors can take guided tours through the mansion, which are led by knowledgeable docents who share the house's history and architectural details. The plantation also has several other buildings on the property, including slave quarters, a carriage house, and a chapel, that illustrate the life of the plantation's residents.
In addition to tours, Rose Hill Mansion also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including weddings, corporate events, and holiday celebrations. The property features several outdoor venues, including a beautiful fountain courtyard and a waterfront pavilion that overlooks the Colleton River.
